Your Top Questions Answered

How can my student receive emergency updates while on campus?

Download Liberty’s safety app to stay informed about emergency alerts and have emergency contacts readily available. Find out more about the Champion Safe app here.

Additionally, review Liberty’s Emergency Guidelines and Annual Campus Security and Fire Safety Report to understand the university’s safety standards and expectations.

How can my student find roommates?

Maybe your student doesn’t yet know anyone on campus, or perhaps they’re looking to expand their roommate search to find the best possible living arrangement. Either way, check out our Housing Selection page for information about how your student can match with and select potential roommates!

What should my student pack for their dorm room?

Packing for a dorm room is an exciting step in preparing for college life! At Liberty University, we recommend that your student bring essentials to make their space comfortable and functional while keeping in mind the size of the room and shared living arrangements. Check out our What to Bring page for a complete list.

Can my student bring a car, and what parking options are available?

Students are permitted to bring a car and park on campus, but they will need to have their vehicle registered and obtain a parking decal. You can learn more about parking and vehicle registration on our Parking page.

How can my student receive mail and packages on campus?

At Liberty University, residential students receive mail and packages through the Student Mail Center. Each student is assigned a unique Flames Box number, which remains the same throughout their time living on campus.

My student has food allergies or a very specific dietary need – how will campus dining accommodate them?

Dining Services is committed to accommodating students with food allergies and dietary restrictions by providing accurate ingredient information, allergen-friendly meal options, and specialized dining stations. The Reber-Thomas Dining Center features an Allergen Friendly station free from the 8 most common food allergens as well as Simple Zone, a locked pantry offering gluten-, dairy-, peanut-, and tree nut-free options.

Students with dietary concerns can meet one-on-one with a registered dietitian to discuss their needs, and those with medically documented conditions may request dietary accommodations. For more details, students are encouraged to explore Liberty’s Campus Allergen Program or submit a request through the feedback form. Learn more!

What resources are available for students with disabilities?

Liberty’s Office of Disability Accommodation Support (ODAS) ensures equal access and an inclusive campus environment by offering individualized advising, advocacy, and reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities and temporary medical conditions.

Will my student have to pay out-of-state tuition?

No, your student will not have to pay out-of-state tuition at Liberty University. Unlike many other colleges and universities that charge higher tuition rates for out-of-state students, Liberty offers the same competitive tuition rates to all students, regardless of their state of residence. This approach reflects our commitment to making a high-quality, Christ-centered education accessible for students across the country and around the world. Whether your student is coming from near or far, they can benefit from Liberty’s tuition structure while pursuing their academic and spiritual goals.

What can my student and I do around the area when we visit?

When you visit Liberty University, you and your student can enjoy a variety of activities in Lynchburg and the surrounding area.

On campus, you can check out Snowflex, Liberty’s year-round ski and snowboard facility, where you can hit the slopes, go tubing, or take in the scenic views. Enjoy ice skating at the Lahaye Ice Center, go bowling at the Montview Bowling Alley, enjoy the thrill of watching intramural sports, work out at the gym, take in the trail system and fun activities at Hydaway Outdoor Center, and so much more! Learn more about campus recreation!

There is also plenty to do off campus. If you enjoy the outdoors, consider hiking Sharp Top Mountain, one of the most popular trails in the Blue Ridge Mountains, which offers breathtaking panoramic views. For a more relaxed experience, stroll through Historic Downtown Lynchburg, where you’ll find charming shops, local restaurants, and scenic riverfront walks. If you’re looking for family-friendly activities, the Amazement Square Children’s Museum offers interactive exhibits for younger visitors, while the Liberty Mountain Trail System provides miles of scenic paths for hiking and biking.
