Biography

Dr. Andrea L. Smith is an accomplished professional with a diverse background in education and aeronautics. Dr. Smith’s journey in education began in Florida, Arizona, and Maryland, where she taught mathematics and physics to K-12 students. As she honed her expertise, Dr. Smith pursued further studies, obtaining a Master of Education degree specializing in Supervision and Leadership from Liberty University. Building on her passion for education, and ensuring education had meaning for students, she transitioned into administrative roles, initially as a department lead and later as the Dean of Academic Affairs. Driven by a desire to excel in higher education, Dr. Smith ventured into the realm of instructional design, where she played a crucial role in developing aeronautics curriculum at Liberty University. This experience fueled her ambition to pursue advanced degrees in both Education and Aeronautics. Dedicated to lifelong learning, she achieved a Doctor of Philosophy in Education, focusing on Instructional Design and Technology, followed by a Master of Science in Aeronautics, specializing in Aviation Education. With her extensive knowledge and academic accomplishments, Dr. Smith took up professorship roles within both the School of Education and the School of Aeronautics at Liberty University. Her commitment to academic excellence and leadership qualities led her to her current positions as the Online Chair in the School of Aeronautics and a Dissertation Chair and Committee Member in the School of Education. Throughout her remarkable career, Dr. Andrea L. Smith has made significant contributions to the field of education and aeronautics, positively impacting the lives of countless students and aspiring aviation professionals.
