Residential Program

Our Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) program is the most recent addition to the degree programs offered by the School of Aeronautics. You will earn a Private certificate with an Instrument rating and will have the opportunity to become a certified UAS operator.

In this program, you can become qualified to operate both small and large UAS aircraft using the most common command and control systems currently used in UAS today. The focus of the training is to prepare operators to work in any of the UAS fields including agriculture, utility inspection, professional cinematography, military applications, and civilian contractor UAS operations.

The training includes flight time and certification on University-owned Small UAS as well as the opportunity to be trained and fully certified on the Aerosonde UAS platform.* The courses include an introductory course, Small UAS ground and flight courses, a UAS avionics and Powerplants course where control theory, RF communications and computer networks will be taught from the perspective of UAS operations, as well as upper level courses that lead to certification on the Aerosonde UAS.

*U.S. citizens only
