At Liberty University’s School of Aeronautics, students train using state-of-the-art equipment and advanced flight simulators designed to meet the demands of today’s aviation industry. We’re 1 of the few universities offering unmanned aerial system (UAS) certification with medium UAS, thanks to our partnership with Textron Systems and its Aerosonde aircraft.

Nationally Recognized Excellence

Liberty’s School of Aeronautics has earned national acclaim, including 4 Loening Trophies – 1 of the most prestigious and historic collegiate aviation awards. Our National Intercollegiate Flying Association (NIFA) flight team has claimed 19 consecutive SAFECON Region X championships, and our programs have been honored multiple times with the American Airlines Safety Award.

Flight Teams and Competitions

Students can take their experience to the next level by joining our NIFA Flight Team. Whether you’re competing in SAFECON, the Women’s Air Race Classic, or the National Aviation Maintenance Competition, you can grow your skills, build strong friendships, and strengthen your resume through hands-on team experience.
