The Chief of Staff helps hire and oversees the seven Cabinet departments through Cabinet meetings and regular check-ins. The Chief of Staff promotes the vision of the Student Body President to them and the SGA Director. The Chief of Staff is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating executive branch operations, activities, and culture.

The Treasurer manages the funds, budgets, and distributions for Clubs, Branches, Departments, and all other SGA activities. The Treasurer manages the Funding Board to approve and modify requested budgets. The Treasurer manages all dispersed funds. The Treasurer must also interact with Liberty’s administration to advocate for SGA’s budget and innovate and improve the Treasury Department.

• The Treasurer must have completed, and received at least a B in, ACCT 211 and ACCT 212

The Director of Clubs is the main liaison between clubs, Liberty administration, and SGA. The Director of Clubs should improve SGA Club policies every year and answers all Club inquiries. The Director of Clubs also approves and facilitates the startup of new Clubs. The Director of Clubs also approves 25Live event requests and coordinates Club Fairs, the All Clubs Meeting, and other pertinent club events.

• Experience working with Clubs at Liberty University, especially in the SGA Club Department, is preferred, but not required

The Director of Communications manages all SGA communications, including social media posts, stories, and reels; photos; videos; public statements; and marketing materials. The Director of Communications is responsible for SGA’s public image and the overall strategy behind their social media and marketing campaigns.

• The Director of Communications reports to the Chief of Staff
• The Director of Communications should possess a background in marketing, graphic design, strategic communications, or a related field
• Hard skills (such as graphic design, videography, or photography) are preferable, but are certainly not required if a candidate can demonstrate strategic marketing skills
• Experience on the SGA Communications team is preferred, but not required

The Director of Events plans and manages all SGA events, including tailgates, galas, banquets, and student outreach events to connect students with SGA while partnering with University departments, like Athletics and Sodexo. The Director of Events should work with Cabinet directors and branch heads to plan all internal SGA events to encourage a positive culture within the organization.

The Director of Community Affairs leads all SGA student-focused initiatives. Their responsibilities may include managing student feedback councils, town halls, tabling, and interpersonal outreach to key student leaders and other stakeholders. The Director of Community Affairs is the one most responsible for student’s perception of SGA.

The Director of Internal Affairs manages all SGA inter-branch affairs, including relationships with the Senate, House of Representatives, and Judicial Branch. The Director of Internal Affairs manages the legislative process inside the Executive Branch and presents legislation for consideration by the Student Body President. The Director of Internal Affairs attends all Senate and House meetings and works to improve the culture and efficiency of the Representative Branch.

Executive Assistants assist the Student Body President, Vice President, and Chief of Staff in accomplishing the vision of SGA. Executive Assistant positions are generally project-based and can vary widely depending on the needs of the President and the capabilities of the specific Executive Assistants.

The Vice Treasurer assists the Treasurer in disbursing cash, answering inquiries, and improving the Treasury’s efficiency. The Vice Treasurer is responsible, along with the Treasurer, for ensuring the smooth functioning of the The Vice Treasurer should expect set meeting times and required office hours for paid members.

The Clubs Team assists the Director of Clubs in all aspects of the Clubs Department. Responsibilities can vary, but a Clubs Team member can expect to assist with answering emails, innovating the Clubs Department, and potentially taking some meetings with club leadership. A Clubs Team position may be project-based or require set office hours.

The Communications Team assists the Director of Communications in all of SGA’s communication, especially SGA’s official social media accounts. Positions may vary widely but generally require skills in fields such as marketing, graphic design, photography, videography, or journalism. The Communications Team is generally project-based with deadlines.

The Events Team assists the Director of Events in the planning, preparation, and execution of all SGA events. Events Team members should be available to assist with events and should provide a friendly, welcoming atmosphere for all students and SGA members at events.

The Community Affairs Team assists the Director of Community Affairs in connecting SGA to the general student body. Responsibilities may vary, but they may include brainstorming outreach strategies, assisting student feedback councils, and tabling for SGA.

The Internal Affairs Team assists the Director of Internal Affairs with the relationship between the Representative Branch and Executive Branch. This may include attending House or Senate meetings, encouraging legislation innovation, or documenting the history of SGA.

• Experience in the Representative branch is preferable, but not required

The Speaker of the House is the figurehead of the House of Representatives and ensures the smooth functioning of the House of Representatives through the facilitating of debate during House meetings and the coordinating of logistics for the House and its committees. The Speaker of the House also manages the House’s CSER and chairs the House leadership’s Committee on Rules and Ethics.

• CSER position
• Elected at the end of every academic year by House of Representatives to one-year terms
• The Speaker of the House should be able to stay calm during high-stress situations, have solid conflict resolution skills, be comfortable in front of a crowd, and have a deep understanding of House parliamentary procedure and the SGA legislative process
• The Speaker of the House must have served in the Representative Branch at least one semester prior to running and currently be in the House of Representatives
• Resident Assistants are not eligible to run for the Speaker of the House

Committee Chairpersons for the House of Representatives are responsible for ensuring the smooth running of their respective committees through the facilitating of debate and coordinating of logistics for their committees. Committee chairpersons are also responsible to attend meetings of the Committee on Rules and Ethics.

• Elected by the respective committee at the end of the academic year, or when a vacancy occurs in committee leadership
• Must be a part of the committee at the time of the election

Hall Representatives are elected at the beginning of the Fall semester and serve in the House of Representatives for the rest of the academic year. One representative is elected per residence hall or building and is responsible to attend biweekly House meetings and biweekly House committee meetings to write, present, and debate legislation for the betterment of Liberty and its SGA.

Commuter Representatives are elected at the beginning of the Fall semester and serve in the House of Representatives for the rest of the academic year. Commuter representatives are elected by commuter students at-large and are responsible to attend biweekly House meetings and biweekly House committee meetings to write, present, and debate legislation for the betterment of Liberty and its SGA.

Speaker Assistants are a variety of positions that assist the Speaker with the Speaker’s duties. These positions may range from a Clerk, who assists the Speaker with running House meetings, a Parliamentarian, who manages parliamentary procedure during meetings, a Secretary, a Legislative Assistant, a Bailiff, and a Chaplain.

• Being a hall or commuter representative is not required for all positions

The President of the Senate is the figurehead of the Senate and ensures the smooth functioning of the Senate through the facilitating of debate during Senate meetings and the coordinating of logistics for the Senate and its committees. The President of the Senate also manages the Senate’s CSER and chairs the Senate leadership’s Committee on Oversight.

• The President of the Senate should be able to stay calm during high-stress situations, have solid conflict resolution skills, be comfortable in front of a crowd, and have a deep understanding of Senate parliamentary procedure and the SGA legislative process
• The President of the Senate must have served in the Representative Branch at least one semester prior to running and currently be in the Senate

Committee Chairpersons for the Senate are responsible for ensuring the smooth running of their respective committees through the facilitating of debate and coordinating of logistics for their committees. Committee chairpersons are also responsible to attend meetings of the Committee on Oversight.

• Elected by the respective committee at the end of the academic year, or when a vacancy occurs in committee leadership
• Must be a part of the committee at the time of the election

With two senators per school, senators are chosen by the deans of their respective schools to represent the schools in the Senate. Senators are responsible to show up to biweekly Senate meetings and biweekly committee meetings to write, present, and debate legislation.

• Must have a major or minor in the school that the Senator is representing
• Senators serve until graduation or resignation
