Biography
Dr. Taeseong Kim is an accomplished pianist and piano pedagogy specialist. He earned a B.M. in Piano from Liberty University, an M.M. in Piano Pedagogy from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and a D.M.A. in Piano Pedagogy from the University of South Carolina, Columbia.
Dr. Kim started his music career as a rock musician in a college band in Korea, which eventually led him to study in the U.S., changing his major from computer engineering to music. In his early life, he dreamed of studying rock music, but he chose instead to study classical piano at Liberty University in the 1990s. He now confesses that every moment of his path has been perfectly orchestrated by God, and he is not hesitant in admitting God as his true Lord. Along with his studies and professional teaching career, he has performed numerous times in recitals and conferences as both soloist and collaborative pianist.
He is very interested in the concept of integrated and innovative worship and is currently pursuing the Doctor of Worship Studies degree at Liberty University. In April 2017, he premiered “Total Art Worship,” a non-verbal worship presentation incorporating various art forms such as dance, music, and visual arts as a medium for delivering a biblical message.
Before coming to Liberty, Dr. Kim had served on the faculty of the Community Music Program at the University of South Carolina and taught in private studios for many years in Virginia, Tennessee, and South Carolina.
