Biography

Dr. Taeseong Kim is an accomplished pianist and specialist in piano pedagogy. He earned a B.M. in Piano from Liberty University, an M.M. in Piano Pedagogy and Literature from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, a D.M.A. in Piano Pedagogy from the University of South Carolina, Columbia, and a Doctor of Worship Studies from Liberty University.

Dr. Kim started his music career as a rock musician in a college band in Korea, which eventually led him to study in the U.S., changing his major from computer engineering to music. In his early life, he dreamed of studying rock music, but he chose instead to study classical piano at Liberty University in the 1990s. He now confesses that God has perfectly orchestrated every moment of his path, and he is not hesitant in acknowledging God as his Lord. Along with his studies and professional teaching career, he has performed numerous times in recitals and conferences, both as a soloist and collaborative pianist.

Interested in the concept of redeeming arts for worship, he earned a second doctoral degree in Christian worship studies at Liberty University in May 2023. In April 2017, he premiered “Total Art Worship,” a non-verbal worship presentation that incorporated various art forms, such as dance, music, and visual arts, as a medium for delivering a biblical message.

Dr. Kim lives in Rustburg, Virginia, with his wife, Michelle, his mother-in-law, and their son, Joseph. He enjoys cooking for his family in his free time and occasionally prepares meals for the church congregation, which numbers over 120 people.
