The Family and Consumer Sciences Association is a pre-professional student organization that promotes student involvement in the profession throughout the university and the community. The FACS Association offers students opportunities for leadership, friendship, ministry, and career exploration. Officers are elected each spring for the following academic year. The FACS Association sponsors university activities, community projects, club meetings with special speakers, support for all FACS majors and is an exciting springboard for professional involvement.

Professional Organizations

Here are a few examples of how our Family & Consumer Sciences Association student members are impacting the Lynchburg community with the love of Christ!

“Buddie Blankies”, super-soft stuffed animals and dolls holding small blankets, were made by the students and donated to the Lynchburg Police Department for children they will encounter on patrol. In January, Officer Elsa Ramirez came to our Liberty University Family & Consumer Sciences Association meeting, where we were able to present her with approximately 70 Buddie Blankies.

FACS student members each donated $5 to purchase much needed canned foods and supplies for the Lynchburg Food Bank. 90 pounds of food was purchased by our students! Attached is a photo of several of the FACS Association officers donating the foods.

Valentines were handmade by FACS student attendees at the January meeting. Pocket Kleenex packs were purchased and taped onto each card and then delivered to a local nursing home for the residents. Attached is a photo of a nurse and several directors accepting the beautiful cards.  Approximately 100 cards were made and given to the residents on Valentine’s Day.
