The events on this list are approved Psychology Activities for all psychology classes. One activity may be credited to several classes. For activities not listed here, please obtain approval from your professor before attending. Below is the psychology activity form that can be used to report all of your psychology activities.

PSYC Activity Approval

Psychology activities must be approved by the department. Please email the Department of Psychology, if you are interested in having an activity considered for approval. All requests for psychology activities must be submitted in writing at least fourteen days before the event to be reviewed. Submission of an event does not assume approval.

“Discover Your Career Story”

  • Date- September 24, 2024

  • Host- Erika Hartzell with the Career Center with Psychology CSER team
  • Description- This event will highlight aspects such as job searching, networking, and resume writing.

“A Christian Perspective Under Fire: Religious Liberty and Free Speech in the Mental Health Profession”

  • Date- September 26, 2024
  • Location- DH 3064
  • Time- 6:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Host- Shannae Anderson & Psychology CSER team
  • Description- Despite overwhelming evidence that healthy spirituality contributes to positive mental health, Christian mental health professionals are experiencing increasing hostility and discrimination in educational programs, training, and practice. Freedom of speech and the free exercise of religious beliefs are being challenged in the secular and faith-based realm. This event will present several real-life stories of discrimination faced by Christian mental health professionals and the severe consequences they experienced. A highly respected attorney will review the relevant legal issues and the importance of fighting against counseling bans and laws that create moral injury for mental health professionals

“Academic Success Center Workshop – Time Management”

  • Description- In this presentation, we will help students break down their average week with the 168-hour activity as well as examine strategies and techniques for efficient time management such as how to organize a calendar and the 40 hour workweek

Careers in Psychology Panel

  • Host- – PSI CHI Officers and Professionals in Psychology and Mental Health
  • Description- Join us and other professionals in the field for a Q & A session on what it is like to work with a degree in Psychology or Mental Health. Psychologists, researchers, mental health workers, and partners in ministry will be there to help us understand the many opportunities available to us with a degree in Psychology or related fields. This PSYC activity will be worth one Psychology Activity Credit!

“Movie Night with Club Psych!”

  • Description – Join Club Psych and a professor as we analyze various scenes of the movie Encanto and explore the psychological concepts of the characters, their underlying mental struggles, emotions, and family dynamic.

“Human Trafficking 101”

  • Date-October 24, 2024

  • Host- Dr. Kevin Conner and Psychology CSER team
  • Description – This presentation will be educational to help each student personally understand and avoid the relational nature of trafficking. It will also equip those entering any helping profession to identify the red flags of exploitation in their future clients’ lives. We believe that prevention education is the most critical element in preventing and ending human trafficking.

  • Description- Are you feeling overwhelmed? Do you feel like there is so much to do that you cannot afford to take a break? This event is for you. Research shows that intentional self-care, pursuit of hobbies, and times of rest are essential to live a flourishing life. Scientists and the Bible both agree on this subject. Come join us for a time of learning how to cope best for your specific personality type and needs! You will earn a PSYC activity credit from joining in with us on this event!

“Is Self-Forgiveness Possible?”

  • Date- November 19, 2024

  • Time- 6:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Host- Dr. Jichan Kim, Psychology CSER Team
  • Description- God forgives us. How about self-forgiveness? Can we forgive ourselves? In this presentation, self-forgiveness will be defined, common criticisms of self-forgiveness will be addressed, and then will be compared to divine and person-to-person forgiveness. This presentation will demonstrate that if God forgives our sins out of His forgiving love, we ought to practice forgiveness toward ourselves too.
