At the Academic Success Center, we provide study strategies through courses, workshops, and one-on-one mentoring to equip you with methods that will strengthen your academic experience.

Faculty Mentoring

Make an appointment with one of our faculty members to receive individual assistance with time management, organization, and various study tips such as note-taking, active listening, reading college textbooks, test-taking, test anxiety, and memory improvement.

Schedule Appointment

After clicking on Schedule Appointment:

  • Click on the drop down box for Type and search for 'Faculty Mentoring.'

  • Scroll down to the counselors box and select the professor with whom you are making an appointment.

  • Click on 'check availability.'

  • Choose an available appointment time.

If you do not immediately see the options above, select "Request An Appointment" under the Career Tools and Advising box on the right side of the home page.

Study Skills Courses

MENT 101 - Mentoring for University Transition

  • 1-credit hour
  • Course for first semester freshmen

This course uses a small group setting to teach both the study strategies and life skills needed for a successful transition to college.

CLST 101 - College Learning Strategies

  • 1-credit hour
  • Course for second semester freshmen and sophomores

For the second semester freshman or sophomore who needs better study strategies, this course emphasizes time management, note-taking, test-taking, and various other study techniques.

CLST 105 - Strategies for Application of College Learning Skills

  • 1-credit hour
  • Course for upperclassmen

This course is for upperclassmen who struggle with time management and meeting deadlines. Small group instruction and one-on-one professor mentoring are used to help students learn accountability and experience academic success.
