Mock Trial

Sharpen your growing knowledge of the law by competing on the Liberty University undergraduate Mock Trial Team. Having celebrated many successes, such as regional championships, our team will help you gain the confidence you’ll need in future law school Mock Trial competitions and the real-world courtroom.

What is Mock Trial? 

Mock Trial simulates a jury trial. Students take on the roles of both attorneys and witnesses. The team works together to turn a given fact pattern into a cohesive case theory. The team then presents their case at tournaments where they are competing against other teams from across the nation.

What do we do?

Liberty currently has 3 Mock Trial teams. These teams practice on a weekly basis to prepare for competition. Our teams then travel across the country in order to compete. As a part of this program, members have the opportunity to meet working attorneys and judges, as well as develop connections within the program.

Who can join? 

Any Liberty University undergraduate student! Mock Trial is NOT just for pre-law majors or even just for students interested in law school. Mock Trial helps to build vital skills like public speaking, and academic argumentation that are applicable to many different areas of study. Most importantly, Mock Trial builds a community and we would love to see you as a part of our team!

How can I get involved? 

To join our Mock Trial team you will need to go through a tryout process. Tryouts take place in August.  Information on when our initial interest meeting will be held and how to sign up for a tryout is advertised on campus at the beginning of the semester.
