Biography
Dr. Rathsam is the department chair for for Criminal Justice and Pre-Law, Associate Professor of Government, and primary coach for Moot Court & Mock Trial Teams. Dr. Rathsam graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice from the Helms School of Government in 2013. As a Helms School student, Dr. Rathsam competed as a member of the Undergraduate Moot Court Team and competed in a Regional Tournament. Dr. Rathsam was also a founding board member of Liberty University’s chapter of Alpha Phi Sigma the Criminal Justice Honor Society.
Dr. Rathsam immediately enrolled at Liberty University School of Law after graduation. Dr. Rathsam competed on the Liberty University School of Law Moot Court Team. During Law School, Dr. Rathsam assisted Dr. Robertson in coaching Undergraduate Moot Court teams for Regional Competitions. Dr. Rathsam graduated from Law School in 2016.
Dr. Rathsam is a licensed attorney in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Prior to accepting this position, Dr. Rathsam worked as an associate attorney at the Law Offices of Fairchild & Yoder, which is located in Forest, Virginia. Dr. Rathsam focused his legal practice in the areas of Family Law, Criminal Defense, and Elder law. Dr. Rathsam has litigated cases in Lynchburg, Roanoke, and the surrounding counties.
