Biography

Aaron Van Allen is a Danville, VA native and Associate Professor of Government for the Helms School of Government at Liberty University. Before he transitioned to academia, Aaron served in the United States Congress for ten years.  He served as the Lynchburg District Representative/Service Academy Coordinator for Rep. Benjamin L. Cline (VA-6) in the U.S. House of Representatives. Aaron began this role for Rep. Cline upon his taking the Oath of Office in January 2019. Before working for Rep. Cline, Aaron was hired by then Sixth District Representative Bob Goodlatte – who simultaneously served as the Chair of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary. Aaron began working for Congressman Goodlatte in July 2013.  Mr. Van Allen was responsible for managing all constituent services, outreach, and casework for the City of Lynchburg, Amherst County, and parts of Bedford County residing within the Sixth Congressional District of Virginia. Furthermore, he offered auxiliary support to legislative aids researching and writing policy in economics, education, energy, and defense. Additionally, Aaron managed all military service academy nominations for the Sixth Congressional District. The four service academies are the U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Air Force Academy, and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

Before working for the people of the Sixth Congressional District of Virginia, Aaron interned in the Danville District Office of then Rep. Robert Hurt (VA-5). Additionally, Aaron served as a Staff Assistant in Richmond, VA with the Virginia Manufacturers Association.
