Alpha Phi Sigma

Alpha Phi Sigma is the national Criminal Justice Honor Society, and membership in this society carries numerous benefits, including scholarship opportunities, career advancement, and a chance to plug in to the criminal justice world while still at school.

Alpha Phi Sigma is a student-led and student-oriented organization with Prof. Mike Milnor as the faculty advisor and many opportunities for leadership and officer positions.

Earning an Alpha Phi Sigma lifetime membership is a distinguished honor. The Alpha Phi Sigma national office preserves a permanent record of your membership, which you can use on your applications to graduate schools and jobs. In addition, members are eligible to wear Alpha Phi Sigma regalia at their graduation. Membership in this organization is available to all Liberty criminal justice majors and minors who have demonstrated outstanding performance in their criminal justice courses and met the following requirements:

  • At least 3 semesters of undergraduate study
  • An overall GPA of 3.2 or higher with a minimum of four courses in criminal justice
  • A cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher in criminal justice courses

Becoming a Member is easy:

Download and fill out the membership application and bring a cashier's check or money order for a $50 one-time fee made out to Alpha Phi Sigma HQ. In addition, there is a local chapter fee that is based upon your completed criminal justice course hours. The final step is to get a copy of your unofficial transcripts from ASIST and bring all of the above mentioned material to the Helms School of Government located at DeMoss Hall 4084. That's it!

The Fee:

The membership fee for joining Alpha Phi Sigma is a one-time fee of $50. At this time, the Society only accepts a cashier's check or a money order.

Local Chapter Dues:

The local chapter fee is a one time payment and will only be accepted in the form of cash. The following chart will explains how much you will be required to send:

  • $10- if you have 12-17 hours of CJUS; or
  • $15- if you have 18-23 hours of CJUS; or
  • $30- if you have 24 hours and up of CJUS.

Unofficial Transcripts

Print a copy of your unofficial transcripts, which can be found on ASIST under student records.

Your application will not be accepted if the above mentioned material is not properly filled out and turned in.

Online Students:

Are you an online student? Alpha Phi Sigma is available to you, too! Just follow the same directions above but mail the application, cashier's check or money order, cash, and unofficial transcripts to:
