We understand that this might be your first time as a parent navigating how college costs work. At Liberty, we want to answer the questions you have and clear up any doubt about how something works:

  1. Tuition – The main component of college costs, representing the price of attending classes.
  2. Fees – Additional charges that can vary depending on the program your student chooses. These can cover specific services like lab usage, technology access, and student activities.
  3. Room and Board – The cost of housing on campus, including meal plans.
  4. Enrollment Deposit – Grants your student access to all sorts of benefits like scholarships, the Early Deposit Award, and the ability to spend 3 days on Liberty’s campus to see what it is like to be a student without paying the normal $50 fee. Find out more on our Enrollment Deposit page!
  5. Financial Check-In (FCI) – Before each semester begins (fall, spring, and summer), your student must complete Financial Check-In (FCI) to finalize their enrollment. This process ensures they confirm their courses, select a residence hall, choose a dining plan, and make necessary financial arrangements. Through FCI, they can also view applied scholarships and grants as well as set up a payment plan if needed.

To help you get a feel for what the actual cost of attendance will be, including both direct and indirect expenses, check out our tuition and fees page.

If you live in Virginia, you already know everything the Commonwealth has to offer — from mountains, beaches, and historical monuments to big cities, small towns, sophistication, and down-home hospitality. It has a little bit of everything. It’s home.

And if Liberty becomes your student’s college home, they may qualify for at least $1,500 per year just for being a Virginia resident.

No matter where you’re from, we want to make Liberty affordable for your family. That is why we have no additional cost for out-of-state students
