Biography

Dr. Brown has worked in nursing academia since 2019. She began her nursing career as a pediatric medical-surgical nurse in 2006. Her interest in maternal nursing led her to pursue clinical experiences in the newborn nursery, neonatal intensive care, and women’s health education. Her credentials include certification as an international board-certified lactation consultant (IBCLC) and nationally recognized as an academic certified nurse educator (CNE). Dr. Brown seeks to create an innovative learning environment that fosters caring, creativity, and nursing excellence. She has a terminal degree, Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), from Liberty University. She graduated with her master’s and bachelor’s from Liberty University and an associate degree in nursing from Tidewater Community College. Dr. Brown’s research interest includes innovative teaching strategies to promote nursing clinical reasoning, increasing diversity and men in nursing, and factors that influence breastfeeding initiation and duration.
