The Liberty University Spirit Band is the “pep band” for Liberty University, performing primarily at home basketball games and postseason play. Performances for other sports may include: hockey, lacrosse, and volleyball. The ensemble rehearses Sunday evenings from November through March. The Spirit Band performs a wide variety of musical selections before large public audiences in attendance at athletic events as well as radio and television audience. This ensemble travels with the basketball teams during postseason play, which involve fun trips where the members make lifetime memories.
The membership is comprised of approximately 30 auditioned Liberty University students, led by Mr. Tommy Goddard. Placement for all positions is considered open and is not necessarily dependent on prior-year membership. Tuition-based scholarships are available for all participants and are applied to Spring semester financial aid.
Auditions will be held in Instrumental Commons (Room #059) in the SOM on Sunday, October 18th, @ 6pm. Please notify Mr. Goddard if you need another audition time. Spirit Band Instrumentation: Piccolo, Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Trumpet, Mellophone, Trombone, Baritone, Tuba, Electric Guitar, Bass Guitar, & Drumset.

*Rhythm Section: Create a part to support the winds in “The Mandalorian.”
**Electric Guitar/Bass: Perform something that showcases your skills. Drumset will demonstrate the following styles with fills: rock, funk, swing, & latin.
Rehearsals will be held in the Band Room (SOM 160) every Sunday night from 7-8:30pm, beginning Sunday, October 25th.
