Through participating in Marching Band, Indoor Drumline, Spirit Band, University Band, or Wind Symphony, you’ll have the opportunity to perform before large audiences under the direction of skilled leadership.

On the Liberty University Marching Band, you’ll join an exciting company of brass, woodwind, and percussion instrumentalists, accented and accompanied by a full-color guard. In true drum corps style, The Spirit of the Mountain maintains the highest level of excellence, discipline, and musicianship.
Become a member of an auditioned percussion ensemble dedicated to excellence in the marching arts. Since the founding of the Liberty University Indoor Drumline (LUID) in 2012, LUID has been an award-winning ensemble, competing each spring semester at AIA and WGI competitions.
With The Spirit Band, you’ll perform a wide variety of musical selections before large public audiences in attendance at basketball games as well as radio and television audience.
The University Band is a non-auditioned ensemble for woodwind, brass and percussion students. Expand your talents with a repertoire that includes original and transcribed band works from all eras.
The Wind Symphony is designed for the advanced player of woodwind, brass, and percussion. Liberty University Wind Symphony is a highly acclaimed, advanced instrumental ensemble for all students in any major. This fabulous ensemble performs the leading repertoire for wind band, and tours in the Spring.
Under the direction of Dr. Stephen Kerr – Director of Bands, the Liberty University Wind Symphony is acclaimed for its broad repertoire and excellence, and performs historical and contemporary music by important composers such as Holst, Persichetti, Mackey, Whitacre and many others. The ensemble is comprised of the finest wind studies majors in the School of Music, and has performed throughout the eastern half of the United States. The Wind Symphony has also performed numerous times for the College Band Directors National Association’s (CBDNA) Regional Conference, namely in 2008, 2012, and 2016, and the 2021 Virginia Music Educators Association Conference.
