Earning an Alpha Phi Sigma lifetime membership is a distinguished honor. The Alpha Phi Sigma national office preserves a permanent record of your membership, which you can use on your applications to graduate schools and jobs.
Service Project
The Alpha Phi Sigma has a service project with the Lynchburg Regional Juvenile Detention Center and they have a Lifeskills/Mentoring program and LU students meet at the Center twice per month.
Requirements to Join
Undergraduate Students
- Must be a declared major or minor in criminal justice
- Must have completed 3 full-time semesters
- Must have a 3.2 GPA in major and overall
- Must have taken a minimum of 4 criminal justice courses
Graduate Students
- Must be in MS CJUS program
- Must have completed 4 courses in the program
- Must have a 3.0 GPA
Law School Students
- Must be enrolled in the Liberty Law School
- Must have completed first academic year
- Must have a 2.5 GPA
Membership Costs
Membership requires a $70.00 money order to Alpha Phi Sigma Headquarters for the membership fee. It also requires a separate money order to Alpha Phi Sigma – Theta Sigma for lifetime local dues based on the following schedule:
- 12 hours to 15 hours of undergraduate CJUS courses: $20.00
- 18 hours to 24 hours of undergraduate CJUS courses: $25.00
- 27 hours of greater of undergraduate CJUS courses: $30.00
- Graduate: $30.00
- Law School: $30.00
