JOUR 225 – Media Writing
Here’s what you’ll learn:
- This course provides a survey of mass communication media formats and writing techniques from news for print and broadcast to advertising and public relations.
- The course is designed to enhance the appreciation of the mass communication professional, as well as provide an understanding of the basic techniques used by the professional to inform and/or persuade audiences.
- You will write news stories, produce copy for broadcast news, create an advertising package, and develop a public service announcement.
SCOM 201 – Public Speaking
Here’s what you’ll learn:
- This course explores public speaking theory and hands-on practical application of alternative organization and construction techniques beyond the basics.

Admission Requirements for Undergraduate Degrees
Every application is reviewed by the admission committee on a case-by-case basis, meaning there are no set minimums for acceptance. However, all applicants must submit the following documents* for admission:
- Admission application
- Official high school transcripts
- Official college transcripts (if applicable)
- Results from the CLT, SAT, or ACT are not required for admission, but may be used in consideration for merit-based aid.
- Admission essay
