LAMP Literary Magazine

Lamp is an annual literary journal that publishes poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, and art/photography from both current and former students of Liberty University. LAMP publishes thoughtful and engaging work that interacts with the fullness of life in their art, including the goodness of creation, the truth of fallenness, and the beauty of redemption.

Submission Guidelines

Email all submissions to lamp@liberty.edu.

  • Writing submissions should be attached as a Microsoft Word document.
  • Photography and art submissions should be attached as a high-quality JPEG.
  • Do not send submissions as links. All submissions must be attached files.
  • Please put the genre(s) of your submission in the subject line of the email.

You may submit pieces in more than one genre (for example, you might submit two poems, a piece of flash fiction, and a photograph). Please include all your written submissions in one document, with each piece beginning on a new page.

LAMP is now closed for submissions. We plan to report decisions in April 2024.

Writing Submissions

Fiction and Creative Non-fiction: up to 3,500 words

We do accept flash fiction (500 words or less).

Poetry: Up to 3 poems

If submitting more than one written piece, please ensure that each new piece begins on a new page of the document.

Art/Photography Submissions

We accept photography, digital art, and high-quality photographs of original studio art. We accept art in color and in black & white. Please give each photo a title. One piece will be selected as the cover for the magazine. Other visual art will appear in the digital version of the magazine.

Please submit up to 5 photos. Submissions should be high-resolution JPEGs only. We print in US half-letter size (8.5 in. x 5.5 in.).
