Lamp is an annual literary journal which publishes poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, and art/photography from both current and former students of Liberty University. LAMP publishes thoughtful and engaging work that interacts with the fullness of life in their art, including the goodness of creation, the truth of falleness, and the beauty of redemption.

Submission Guidelines

Email all submissions to lampmagazine.lu@gmail.com.

  • Writing submissions should be attached as a Microsoft Word document or PDF.
  • Photography and art submissions should be attached as a high-quality JPEG.
  • Please put the genre(s) of your submission in the subject line of the email.

You may submit pieces in more than one genre (for example, you might submit two poems, a piece of flash fiction, and a photograph). Please include all your written submissions in one document, with each piece beginning on a new page.

Deadline for submission: Sunday, Nov. 28, 2021 at 11:59 p.m.

Writing Submissions

Fiction and Creative Non-fiction: up to 3,500 words

We do accept flash fiction (500 words or less).

Poetry: Up to 3 poems

If submitting more than one written piece, please ensure that each new piece begins on a new page of the document.

Art/Photography Submissions

We accept photography, digital art, and high-quality photographs of original studio art. We accept art in color and in black & white. Please give each photo a title. One piece will be selected as the cover for the magazine.

Please submit up to 5 photos. Submissions should be high-resolution JPEGs only. We print in US half-letter size (8.5 in. x 5.5 in.). To get an idea of what your work will look like on the page, please see examples from previous issues at the bottom of this page.
