The School of Nursing can accept 15 students to this program each term due to limited clinical space.

If the idea of serving patients excites you, and you’re considering a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), then consider Liberty’s BSN Accelerated Pre-Licensure program.

If you want to start your nursing career as soon as possible, spending another 3 to 4 years in school may not be ideal. If this sounds like you, Liberty University offers an on-campus, intensive-based, Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) degree program that can help you take the next step toward your career goals in just 2 years. Our nursing professors are experienced nursing authorities and masterful teachers who have a vested interest in your success, and you’ll be offered facilities to study the fundamentals of nursing at Liberty.

Our BSN accelerated track was designed to help you become a professional registered nurse. Additionally, if you have experience as a medic in the military, this program is for you! Take the experience you gained as a medic in the military and use it to become a nurse in 2 years or less.

Our Bachelor of Science in Nursing – Accelerated Pre-Licensure Program is divided into 3 sections: general education courses, foundational courses, and major-specific courses.

The general education section of your degree consists of courses in English, information literacy, critical thinking, civic and global engagement, and Christianity. Through this section of the degree, you will be taught critical thinking skills that can serve you well as you venture into nursing coursework.

The foundational section of your degree is largely comprised of lab-based instruction. You will study microbiology for nursing professionals, chemistry for nurses, the fundamentals of human nutrition, and professional statistics. In this section of our accelerated BSN degree, you’ll also study biomedical ethics, general psychology, and developmental psychology.

The major section of your degree features an introduction to nursing and medical terminology, instruction in cellular pathophysiology for nurses, and research and writing in nursing. You’ll also be taught an accelerated version of foundational nursing studies, nursing care for adults, and nursing care for children. In addition, you will be taught pharmacology, nursing care for families, and how mental health influences one’s overall health. Lastly, you’ll study nursing leadership and practices for the critically ill.

Our fast-track BSN degree program is designed to be completed in just 2 years. Our degree may serve as a foundation for gaining skills relevant to your goals without requiring a traditional 4-year commitment.

Every application is reviewed by the admission committee on a case-by-case basis, meaning there are no set minimums for acceptance. However, all applicants must submit the following documents* for admission:

  • Admission application
  • Official high school transcripts
  • Official college transcripts (if applicable)
  • Admission essay

Students must complete a separate application for the nursing program once all prerequisite courses are completed. Admission to the university does not guarantee admission to the nursing program.

Additional Admission Requirements

Acceptance into Liberty does not guarantee acceptance into this accelerated bachelor’s to BSN program. Students will need to apply to the School of Nursing once admitted to the university.

  • 3.25 GPA
  • Completion of all general education requirements and foundational courses
  • 2nd Degree: completion/conferral of a bachelor’s degree in another subject
  • Signed Non-Work Agreement
  • Completed Nursing Application

If you do not meet all the above requirements, you may be eligible to apply to the BS in Nursing: Pre-Licensure program.
