Urban Mountain Adventures
Urban Mountain Adventures (UMA) is a Christian non-profit youth ministry working in the downtown area of Lynchburg, specifically serving youth in the Daniels Hill, College Hill, and James Crossing (formerly called Greenfield) communities.
Since 2008, our Mission has been to impact the youth of our community through intentional relationships, weekly discipleship groups, and wilderness adventures.
Miriam’s House is designed to end homelessness for women and families by providing them with stability and the skills to succeed in permanent housing. Miriam’s House operates an on-site housing program as well as a community-based rental assistance program, both aimed at quickly connecting homeless women and families to safe and affordable permanent housing. Our mission is to end homelessness and rebuild lives through the empowerment of women and families.
Miller Home for Girls
Our mission is to provide short or long term care and guidance to girls, ages four through twenty-one, who cannot live with their families. Miller Home seeks to provide these services within a supportive, non-institutional environment, which encourages each girl to grow and develop to her highest potential. It is the goal of Miller Home to assist its residents in becoming responsible, productive citizens.
HumanKind is a non-profit human services organization that has been serving children and families since 1903. We offer programs and services that instill hope and equip people with the tools to build a strong foundation for life. We serve more than 6,000 people throughout Virginia each year focused on helping individuals become more productive, healthier, and stronger. Our programs cover everything from financial education to mental health counseling, from early childhood resources to services for adults with disabilities.
Lighthouse Community Center
The Lighthouse is a faith-based nonprofit ministry of FARRR Foundation, and a Trauma-Informed Care organization serving communities since 2008. The mission of the Lighthouse Community Center is to serve all persons in crisis with basic necessities, support, encouragement, and remedial services that lead to self-sustaining and dignified lives. We aim to educate our communities about the impact of trauma on clients, co-workers, friends, family, and even ourselves. Understanding the impact of trauma is an important first step in becoming a compassionate and supportive community.
