Scholarship Giving

Aaron Horton was twenty-four years old when he graduated from Liberty with a history degree in 2007. He and his wife, a Liberty alumna, were tragically killed on April 8, 2011, when an early morning fire broke out in their apartment building. The Aaron Horton Memorial Scholarship Fund is for undergraduate or graduate students majoring in history.

Kim, a native of North Korea, escaped to South Korea on the brink of capture by the communists. He was a faithful friend of the late Dr. Jerry Falwell Sr. and trained countless students for God’s ministries during his time at Liberty. Awards from this scholarship fund are for full-time graduate students in the School of Divinity.”

This scholarship was established in memory of the longtime chief of the Lynchburg Life Saving Crew, Kimball Glass. Recipients must be enrolled in the Master of Science in Homeland Security and Disaster Management program. Preference is given to students who have served as EMTs or firefighters, especially as volunteers.

This fund was established in memory of William “Bill” Odell Waddell, who served as a professor at the Helms School of Government from 2015 to 2021.  During that time, he also was the Program Director of the Strategic Intelligence Studies program. A decorated aviator in the U.S. Navy, Bill Waddell also taught for 20 years at the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, PA. Recipients of this scholarship must be full-time students at the Helms School of Government, majoring in one of the Strategic Intelligence cognates.
