God’s Love – David Nasser
Overview:
From our time together in Ephesians 2 during our Mor(ph)e series, we have learned about who we were before Christ. This week in Campus Community we have reached our “But God” moment. We unpack Ephesians 2:4-5, learning about the unbelievable mercy and grace of God. God just doesn’t withdraw hell, but He gives Heaven. Tonight Pastor David emphasized three points; God’s loves supersedes, God’s love withholds, God’s love lavishes. There is nothing like His love and that truth is worth being celebrated.
Verses:
4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ by grace you have been saved -Ephesians 2:4-5
Quotes:
God loves us, not because we are lovable, but despite the fact that we are not.
Grace is God’s unmerited favor: His relentless, overwhelming, reckless love.
In mercy, we don’t get what we deserve, but in grace, we get what we don’t deserve.
Questions:
1) Where has God’s grace and mercy been displayed in your life?
2) God’s unconditional love, not based on anything we have done is lavished upon his children. Describe a recent time you have seen this lavish love personally.
3) In mercy, we see the transference of God’s wrath on Jesus. In what ways has this mercy changed your life?
4) As we reflect on the grace, mercy, and love of God displayed in the Gospel, how much does it compel you to share the Gospel with others, and show your love for the Father?
