Biography

Dr. Kelsey Wilson is an alumnus of Liberty University. In addition to her teaching approach of contemplative andragogy philosophy, Dr. Wilson’s research focuses on influences of father absenteeism, causes of extramarital affairs, professional development, and exploring the trends in congregational life for thriving congregations. Dr. Kelsey is a pioneer; she was the first African American female awarded a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision at North Dakota State University, and because of her service in breaking a phenomenological barrier she received an honorary award in the Heritage Traditional Practice for milestone professional achievement in the African (Liberian) community where she was renamed Dr. Mother Kelsey Wilson.

Dr. Wilson specializes in a branch of counseling called pastoral counseling; counseling individuals, couples, families, and medical professionals. Dr. Wilson renders counseling services for state and federal in clinical cases, for justice and mercy offering services for courtroom preparation with client’s having legal cases which is in part of client testimonials and expert testimony counseling individuals journey towards termination. She is a clergyperson in the African Methodist Episcopal Church and establishes the path of cultural sensitivity of all persons world religions and denominations for counseling. Her counseling philosophy reflects Bowens Family Systems Theory, Existential-Humanistic Counseling and third wave approaches. Dr. Wilson is a member of the Association for Spiritual Ethical and Religious Values in Counseling, Association for Multicultural and Counseling, and National Alliance on Mental Illness. Dr. Wilson intervenes with evidenced-based practices that are culturally sound for grounding ethnicity in family systems and global aspect of demarginalizing family system preferences for restoration in reunification of family bonding through citizenship. Dr. Kelsey Wilson, a cisgender woman enthusiastically enjoys making homemade recipes, quality time with family, singing opera for events, and walking in her leisure.
