The Student Activities Office has announced that Michael Tait, a popular Christian singer and LU alumnus, will perform at this year’s Homecoming on Oct. 25. Tait, along with his band by the same name, will do a 15-minute halftime show and a 45-minute concert after the game.
Fall semester classes may not start for two weeks, but already resident assistants are preparing to meet their students’ needs. Under the Office of Student Leadership, resident assistants (or RAs) are responsible for pastoral-like leadership for the dorms in the areas of discipline, discipleship and general oversight of residential students.
About 280 Liberty University students will pack their suitcases for a unique stay this fall. With enrollment at an all-time high, housing on both Main and East campuses is full – so LU is placing students at the Lynchburg Inn and Conference Center.

The varsity quiz bowl team consisting of Kelly Hamren (captain), Zachary Curtis, Sara Davis-Leonard, Nicholas Orta and Robbie Mullis was crowned champion in January’s Big South Conference Quiz Bowl for its third consecutive tournament victory. Graduate student Jeff Taylor also competes in challenges with the team.

Liberty University Chancellor Jerry Falwell Jr. announced during Wednesday’s convocation that two Liberty University theatre arts students have been given the opportunity of a lifetime. Sophomores Joshua DeVries and Cody Carwile have been cast as brothers in “Billy: The Early Years,” a major motion picture on the life of Billy Graham scheduled for release in late 2008/early 2009.

There are currently 26 Liberty University students participating in the Washington Semester program in our nation’s capital. This program offers a unique opportunity for juniors and seniors of all majors to gain pre-professional experience through internships and professionalism training for their future careers.
The Liberty University campus is a little less active than usual, as students are on Spring Break through March 21. But that doesn’t mean LU students are less active. While many are home or on vacation enjoying time with family and friends, some have decided to use the break in service to others.

Also called “College Wayumi” (Wayumi is an Indian word for going away and experiencing something different), the course offers in-depth tribal missions training at a simulated South American indigenous village built and run by New Tribes Missions.

The Larger Than Life art show featuring a giant box of tissues, enormous tube of mascara, huge carton of milk and more whimsical pieces is currently being housed in the ILRC near Jazzman’s Café. Visual Communication Arts (VCAR) students working in groups used a wide array of materials to make massive versions of everyday objects.
A team representing Liberty University placed ninth among 200 teams in a Chick-fil-A-sponsored dodgeball tournament in Richmond on Saturday. The team, comprised of four current resident assistants, one former resident assistant and two resident directors competed under the name “Jerry Jr.’s Boys.”
