Liberty University students arrived at Heritage High School to vote in full force on Tuesday, braving the rain to ride public transit provided by LU or driving there in small groups. Two Liberty students — easy to identify by their LU sweatshirts — paused outside the high school in Lynchburg, Va., to explain how being Christians and LU students would influence their decision at the poll.

U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina visited Liberty University on Tuesday to motivate Virginians to join the campaign for McCain. “I’m here because we’re trying to win Virginia,” Graham said. “The positive message of Senator McCain needs to be told.”

When Family and Consumer Sciences professor Ruth Gomes suggested that the Creation Studies display, located in the Science Hall off the DeMoss courtyard, needed a new look, seniors Bethany Turner and Lydia Norton agreed and began coming up with a proposal for the redesign.

Nearly 3,000 parents participated in Liberty University’s Family Weekend, Oct. 17 and 18. Events included a Chancellor’s Dinner Friday night, followed by a hockey match, a Saturday morning meet-and-greet reception sponsored by the Parents Program Office and the Parents Development Board meeting on Saturday.

As of Monday’s 4 p.m. registration deadline, LU Commuter Affairs officials had collected and submitted 4,200 forms to the Lynchburg, Va., city registrar.
