Choosing a Career

How in the world is anyone supposed to choose a career?

The short and unencouraging answer is, most of us don’t find just one career or job. Life is a constant evolution of our personality and interests. When we live our lives trying to make our career our identity it will always be an uphill battle. But God…

Contrary to worldly belief the Bible tells us that our identity is in Christ. When we know who we are in Christ and know that our ultimate calling is to build a relationship with Him, smaller things in life, like our career, tend to fall into place.

I know during college a lot of time is spent figuring out what career to do for the rest of your life. Here at Liberty University, you are in a unique environment where you get to learn about God, your encouraged to grow closer to Him, and even our career coaches will use their spiritual wisdom to guide you back to the Lord in this decision.

Instead of listing out your interests or trying to pick the career with the best salary spend some time listening for the still small voice in your mind. Use that as a guiding tool in your career choices while in college and later in life when you have entered your career.

If you need guidance and help navigating this process and figuring out what to pray about talk to your career coach, call LU Shepherd, talk to a professor, or give us a call. All of us who work at Liberty are here to help you during your college journey.
