WHEREAS, the men and women who serve our Liberty University family in roles deemed Essential Workers continue to provide services to our community even during days when severe weather shuts down the academic and many other functions of our residential campus.
WHEREAS, these valued members of our staff have gone above and beyond their regular duties during the recent severe winter weather we have experienced; traveling to the campus on days when transportation was challenging; some lodging away from their families in hotels close to campus; all braving the harsh elements to carry out duties that cannot be performed remotely or virtually.
WHEREAS, these members of our staff kept our campus secure, they cooked and served meals, they operated campus recreation, they cleaned and maintained our buildings, they supported our campus-based IT systems, they removed snow and ice from parking lots, sidewalks and roads, they continued to transport students around campus. And in so doing all these tasks, our campus was able to open again safely and quickly.
THEREFORE, I, Jerry Prevo, President of Liberty University, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Board of Trustees of Liberty University, do hereby gratefully proclaim the appreciation of the entire Liberty University Family to the staff members who served as Essential Workers during these trying times.
AND ADDITIONALLY, I hereby direct that this Proclamation be shared with the men and women of our Liberty University staff in recognition of their perseverance and dedication to the welfare of Liberty University students. They have exemplified the “Champions for Christ” motto of our University and have lived up to our founder’s famous maxim: “Don’t quit!”
