Swimmers Finnigan, Andrew prepare for U.S. Olympic Trials

Alicia Finnigan will compete in the women’s 200 butterfly next Wednesday and Thursday.
Liberty University women’s swimmer Alicia Finnigan has qualified to compete in the 200-meter butterfly at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials, to be held June 26 through July 3 at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Neb.
Finnigan, a rising sophomore from Sugar Land, Texas, earned her spot in Omaha by swimming a time of 2 minutes, 14.05 seconds in the 200 fly at The Poseidon Last Chance Invitational in Richmond, Va., last weekend. She met the U.S. Olympic Trials standard of 2:14.99. Seeded 67th, she will be vying for one of 26 total spots on the U.S. women’s swimming team for the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics.

Additionally, Liberty University Online Academy senior Michael Andrew, 17, who has set over 100 age-group records in his career, will enter five races in his first Olympic Trials.
Fans can follow the Olympic Trials through live video streaming. Additionally, NBC will provide live coverage of the evening session each day, from 8-9 p.m. EST (view schedule). Select preliminary heats will be aired on a taped-delay basis from 7-8 p.m. EST on the NBC Sports Network.
