Construction continues on new university bookstore

As students started back to classes this week, they have no doubt noticed a flurry of activity on what used to be a parking lot at the main entrance to campus. The whirring sounds of large machines and the sight of dust clouds in the air have been coming from the site of Liberty University’s new Barnes & Noble bookstore, located on Main Campus across from the main entrance to Williams Stadium. The project is starting to take shape as crews worked on framing the foundation this week.
The 20,000-square foot, two-story brick building will nearly double the size of the current bookstore in DeMoss Learning Center and will feature a café and outdoor patio. The top floor will be geared toward atmospheric shopping and relaxation; the bottom floor will house textbook transactions, such as semester-end buy-backs.
The project is expected to be completed by fall 2009.
