Windows 11 Update Notice
Information ServicesBeginning Monday, June 17th at 5:00 p.m., a phased rollout of the Window 11 - 23H2 operating system update will occur for LU-owned Windows devices. This mandatory phased rollout will continue over the next few months until all LU-owned Windows devices have been upgraded (excluding those groups listed under the Additional Details section). The update is currently available to install through Software Center at your convenience, prior to the mandatory launch date.
Details you should know:
- Installing the update prior to the mandatory launch date is the best way to avoid any downtime related to this update.
- This can be done by following the Software Center installation instructions, navigating to Updates, and selecting the Windows 11, version 23H2 x64 2024-05B update.
- The update will take roughly 1 hour to complete
- For best results when installing the update at your convenience, please:
- Keep the lid open (for laptops)
- Lock the computer, but do not put it to sleep or power it down
- Plug the computer into power
- Ensure the computer is connected to the internet
- NOTE: if any of these are not met, the update will need to start over
Additional details:
- The update can be installed remotely with or without VPN
- The devices listed below will not be affected and will be updated separately:
- HR devices
- University Leadership devices
- IT Excluded and Critical Operation devices
