Ministry workers unite for prayer service

Liberty University’s faculty and staff joined with Thomas Road Baptist Church, Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary and Liberty Christian Academy employees in an unprecedented prayer service at the TRBC Worship Center Tuesday afternoon. Led by Asst. Professor of Renewal and Church Leadership Daniel Henderson, members from each institution came together for an hour of worship and focused prayer dedicated to the upcoming ministry year.

During the first half hour, Vice Chancellor Ron Godwin and Faculty Chaplain Dr. David Beck entered the pulpit, asking for God’s guidance over the university’s administration, faculty and staff. Toward the latter portion of the service, university co-founder Dr. Elmer Towns prayed for students enrolled in Liberty’s residential and distance learning programs. As the hour came to a close, Henderson emphasized the importance of prayer among the workforce of each ministry.

“The purpose of this was to declare our need for God and to do so in unity,” he stated. “I sense that there will be also a greater desire for people to pray like this more. When we are together on our knees, we are united and our hearts are in tune with Christ. I believe that when we pray together like this, there is a greater unity than there would have been otherwise.”
