Benny Prasad of India performs and shares his testimony at convocation

Benny Prasad, India’s most traveled musician, performed before a packed Vines Center at Wednesday’s convocation. Suffering from rheumatoid arthritis and severe asthma since childhood, the 33-year-old guitarist has journeyed to 182 countries, sharing the message of Jesus Christ with others through his music and testimony. He has played at numerous venues, including the 2007 World Military Games, 2006 FIFA World Cup and the 2004 Olympic Games.

“I’ve known him for quite a while, and far and above his unprecedented skill musically, this is a man who has a burning heart for Jesus,” Campus Pastor Johnnie Moore said. “Already this year, he has been invited because of his skills to travel into some of the least Christian parts of the world.”

Moore added, “There he gets the opportunity to share Christ because he has taken his talent and is using it for the glory of God. There is no one that typifies the vision of Liberty — of going out into cultures with your gifts and talents and the message of Jesus more than Benny Prasad.”

Using his handcrafted guitar, the musician played “I Stand Amazed in the Presence of Jesus the Nazarene.” Before displaying his God-given talents in front of thousands of students, Prasad shared his testimony.

“Jesus has been my faithful provider as a musician,” he said. “If he can take me around the world to make me a blessing to the nations, today you as the future of this nation — you can put your trust and your confidence in His hands. He has a track record that He has never failed. He has never disappointed.”
