John Brownlee, 2009 candidate for VA attorney general, visits campus

Former U.S. attorney John Brownlee paid a visit to the Vines Center Monday, offering words of encouragement to students at convocation.

Brownlee is currently seeking the Republican nomination for Virginia attorney general in the 2009 election. As a U.S. attorney, he helped convict the maker of pain killer OxyContin for intentionally misbranding the drug.

While on stage, the candidate spoke of the sanctity of life and the need for justice. Before exiting the podium, he challenged students to serve God first and foremost as they venture out in their future careers.

“No matter what career you select, I hope you will carry with you the sense of purpose and faith in you that has been instilled in you by this wonderful university and that you choose a life of service,” Brownlee said.
