Wednesday’s convocation had a Spanish flavor, as Groupo de Alabanza (meaning “Praise Group” in Spanish) performed special music before guest speaker the Rev. Samuel Rodriguez took the stage.
The team of Liberty students includes lead singer Eddie Hoagland, originally from Mexico, and several members from Puerto Rico. They sang English and Spanish versions of the contemporary worship song, “Never Let Go.”
Orlando Lobaina, LU’s Executive Director for Global Enrollment, introduced the group and Rodriguez. Lobaina, originally from Puerto Rico with relatives in Cuba, is responsible for global initiatives regarding the international student body at Liberty.
