Liberty announces new publishing company
Chancellor Jerry Falwell, Jr. has announced the establishment of Liberty University Press, a full-service publishing company.
Liberty University Press gives a writer the opportunity to become a published author and offers benefits that many traditional publishing houses do not. A prime example is that the Liberty University Press contract clearly states that each author retains all rights related to his or her work. For authors, the intellectual property and copyright of their material is a valuable asset. As is standard with other University presses, Liberty Press publications will be peer reviewed.
The books published by Liberty University Press are made available through all of the major distribution channels, such as Ingram, Spring Arbor Distributors, Amazon.com and BarnesAndNoble.com, to name a few.
The Lynchburg-based Liberty University Press production team includes award-winning designers with more than 70 years of combined experience in the publishing field.
This new venture will also accelerate the publication process, allowing a book to go from manuscript to final draft in a much shorter period of time than is typical with most publishers. Given state-of-the-art “print on demand” technology, an author’s newly published work can be printed upon order in increments as small as one book. This cost-effective process eliminates overhead expenses related to warehousing and distribution.
Representatives from Liberty University Press guide the author through the entire publication process, from the design of the book and its title to strategizing the most effective means of marketing the newly published work.
Liberty University Provost Dr. Boyd C. Rist stated, “Liberty University Press offers University faculty, as well as authors in the wider evangelical community, the opportunity to write on a wide array of subjects that expand the frontiers of knowledge for both scholarly and general audiences. This is a significant milestone in the development of Liberty University.”
