Hawk Nelson among top bands to perform at Winterfest 2008

A few familiar faces are returning to Liberty University’s Vines Center for Winterfest 2008, Dec. 30-Jan. 1. The ever-popular punk rock sensation Hawk Nelson will take the stage along with Sanctus Real and Skillet, helping to ring in the New Year during the festival’s first night session.

Since releasing its first full length CD, “Letters to the President,” in 2004, Hawk Nelson has infiltrated the mainstream airwaves. The Canadian quartet’s sophomore project “Smile, It’s the End of the World” (2006) featured hit singles such as “The One Thing I Have Left” and “Bring ‘Em Out,” which garnered a high-profile song placement on NBC’s Sunday Night Football.

Fresh off the spring 2008 release of its third album, “Hawk Nelson Is My Friend,” the band is taking a break from the Revolve Tour to pay a visit to the Hill City for one night only. Other Winterfest artists scheduled to perform include Jeremy Camp, Disciple, Grits and Stellar Kart, with dynamic speakers such as Clayton King, David Nasser and the Rev. Eric Timm rounding out the bill.

Apart from seeing great performances, participants can also take advantage of LU’s many attractions, including basketball, ice skating, swimming and more. All-inclusive tickets are $85 in advance – a $10 savings over the price at the door. Individual event tickets start at $15.
