Liberty University employees can now use a new outdoor break area on Hershey-Esbenshade Drive near Green Hall, beside the staff parking lots and overlooking the tennis complex.
The deck, furnished with tables and chairs, was built at the former site of a research lab for the School of Engineering and Computational Sciences, which is being relocated to campus property in Campbell County on Liberty Mountain.
Because the university had to keep the basement level of the old building intact to serve as a junction area for several utilities running to facilities along Regents Parkway, it was decided that a deck on top would make efficient use of the space and give employees another place to take their breaks and enjoy the outdoors.
