Liberty Athletics announces plans to build indoor tennis facility

Thanks to a generous lead gift pledged from an anonymous donor, Liberty University will begin to construct an on-campus indoor tennis facility in January.

The structure will be located around the six newly constructed outdoor tennis courts adjacent to the Cook Tennis Center. The capital gift represents the largest single gift pledged to the Flames Club in athletics department history.

The 75,000-square-foot facility will feature six courts and seating for 100 fans. The building will also house locker rooms, a team room, a laundry facility and a concessions area. The construction project is expected to be completed in January 2021. The cost is estimated at approximately $5 million.

“This is an exciting project for Liberty’s men’s and women’s tennis teams,” said Ian McCaw, Director of Athletics. Thanks to the generosity of our lead donor and support of President Falwell, our tennis student-athletes and coaches will enjoy a state-of-the-art facility to compete and practice regardless of weather conditions.”
