Alumni invited to make more campus memories at special Homecoming festivities this weekend

Liberty University invites the Flames of the past to join those of the present in celebrating its history during the annual Homecoming Weekend, Oct. 18-19. It is a time to experience the school’s growth, witness the latest additions to campus, and look back on the memories formed during one’s college years in Lynchburg.

Starting on Friday, alumni can check in at the LaHaye Event Space. Friday’s events will feature a Convocation with television personality Mike Rowe and the annual School of Music Homecoming concert. The School of Business will also host an open house for its new building and an alumni panel at 6 p.m. The night will conclude with a bonfire at dusk, complete with s’mores and live music, that is open to all past and present students, faculty, family, and friends.

Saturday’s special events begin at 8 a.m. with the Deep Hollow Half Marathon & 5K at the Hydaway Outdoor Recreation Center, followed by alumni games for men’s soccer, women’s lacrosse, and volleyball. At 10 a.m., a ceremony will be held to dedicate Worthington Field at Liberty’s baseball stadium, and the annual Homecoming Parade will roll down University Boulevard at 2:30 p.m.

Alumni can enjoy the Alumni Tailgate from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Outdoor Football Practice Field (football game ticket required to enter) ahead of watching Flames Football take on Maine at 6 p.m.

Alumni are eligible for discounts to some of the events, including the football game, two DI men’s hockey games, Scaremare, and games at the on-campus bowling alley in the Montview Student Union. To receive discounted tickets, check in at the LaHaye Event Space or register online.

Tours of campus will be available throughout the weekend.
