Liberty yearbook nationally recognized

Liberty University’s 2008-09 “I Am” edition of the Selah Yearbook has won the Pacemaker award from the Associated Collegiate Press (ACP).

“This book has now double-listed, being named a Silver Crown winner by the Columbia Scholastic Press and now the Pacemaker winner by ACP, making it among only a handful of collegiate yearbooks to claim both awards for the same edition,” said Carrie Barnhouse, yearbook advisor.

The book also had direction from adjunct professor Sabrena Deal, who served as editor in chief.

Barnhouse congratulated the editorial staff “who put their heart and soul into this book.”

Liberty was one of seven Pacemaker winners out of more than 54 entries. Each book was critiqued based on elements such as excellent photography, complete coverage, innovative design and exemplary copy. “The bottom line is that the staff captured the entire year in coverage that extends beyond the obvious and presented it in ways that appeal to readers,” a judge said.

The Selah Yearbook staff is devoted to producing an annual yearbook that reflects the campus community and the Christian values of Liberty University. By capturing the year through pictures and stories, the dynamics of the current year are put together in a timeless keepsake that embodies the essence of the university.
