Students enjoy ‘British Invasion’ during semiannual Coffeehouse event

At midnight on March 29 Liberty University experienced a British invasion as the semiannual Coffeehouse event — hosted by Student Activities — stormed the Vines Center stage with U.K.-themed acts. More than 6,300 were in attendance for the approved late night event.
Student performances varied from live music, dance, and a cappella to multimedia and video and included covers of popular British artists, including Adele, The Beatles, Coldplay, and One Direction. Tryouts were held earlier in the semester and 15 live acts and nine videos were selected.
Coffeehouse, held twice a year, is one of the largest and most popular student events on campus. The annual Christmas Coffeehouse has sold out for the past four years.
“The British Invasion theme was very well received by the student body — many embraced it by dressing up for the show or waving Union Jack flags,” said Robert Johns, assistant director for Student Activities. “The performers were great to work with and put on a top-notch show. They were well prepared and made Coffeehouse an exciting night. The students loved it — all of the feedback we got after the show was extremely positive.”

Liberty’s Student Activities office provides more than 80 events throughout the school year, including concerts, movie nights, trail races, trips, and Block Party. The department also oversees several facilities that provide diverse opportunities for recreation.
