The PSAT is a practice SAT test that can help you prepare for the real thing. This is a great way for you to get ahead and can potentially increase your chances of getting into your dream school.
When can I take the PSAT?
Since there are 2 versions of the PSAT, you have several chances to take this test. These 2 tests are the PSAT 10 and PSAT/NMSQT.
- The PSAT 10 is offered for 10th-grade students and serves as good practice for the SAT.
- The PSAT/NMSQT is offered for both 10th- and 11th-grade students.
- NMSQT stands for National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. This is the only way in which students can potentially receive a National Merit Scholarship. For more information, visit the Liberty University Scholarships page.
How many times can I take the PSAT, and what time of year is it offered?
- You are able to take either the PSAT 10 or the PSAT/NMSQT once per year.

- Make sure to visit the CollegeBoard Homeschooled Students page for information on registration. Due to the online format of LUOA, you will want to follow the instructions listed there.

- Make sure to use LUOA’s school code 471288 when you register in order to have your scores sent to LUOA!

How can I send scores to colleges I’m interested in?
- When registering for the SAT, you have the option to send 4 score reports for free!
- If you do not set your scores to be sent to the colleges of your choice at registration, you have up to 9 days after the test to send the scores. Otherwise, a fee will be charged for the score reports to be sent. Please make sure to review the Sending SAT Scores page on the CollegeBoard website for more information.
If I have disabilities, how can I find accommodations for the test?
- You can find accommodations through CollegeBoard.
- The accommodation process can take 7 weeks or more for approval, so we recommend contacting CollegeBoard well in advance of the testing date.

If I’m an international student, do I need to take the SAT? If so, how does registration work?
LUOA serves students all over the world. If you are an international student looking to come to a college within the United States, you will most likely need to take the SAT.
