Welcome to LUOA!
Hear from Our Dean and Superintendent
Welcome to Liberty University Online Academy (LUOA). With all the new online programs vying for your attention, I want to thank you for showing interest in and researching our Online Academy. LUOA provides quality academics through a biblical worldview for students in the United States and around the world. It is my prayer that our students receive an exceptional education and a better understanding of who they are in Christ.
LUOA opened its virtual doors in 2007 with a handful of students. During those first few years, few families understood the advantages to online education. Since that time, LUOA has worked with thousands of families who have come to realize that online education truly does meet the needs of families living and working in our turbulent times.
Although we have grown to be a school with 18,000+ students in attendance, we have not lost the personal connections that we formed in those early years. At LUOA, we offer academic support to our students through teachers and advising staff. Our qualified teachers are easily reachable through regular office hours, emails, messaging, and interactive comments/videos on assignments and projects. Our advisors are also readily available by phone, email, or live chat to assist parents and students with course selections and Diploma Completion Plans.
At LUOA, we build personal connections with our students through community. Our students can meet their peers at activities either in person or in a virtual environment. LUOA offers many in-person activities such as tailgate parties at Liberty University sporting events, an annual Christmas party, College For A Weekend (CFAW) events, and a May graduation ceremony. LUOA students also can attend virtual activities like our chapels and assembly meetings. Students can also attend student clubs to interact with other students while being supervised by a club teacher or enroll in enhanced courses that meet weekly together with the course teacher.
Our LUOA curriculum includes over 250 distinct K-12 courses that are available to full-time and part-time students. These classes are rigorous, engaging, and help students learn critical thinking skills while developing life skills that will benefit them long after they have graduated from our school.
Full-time LUOA students can graduate with a standard diploma or an advanced diploma. All eligible juniors and seniors (part-time or full-time) can earn high school credit and college credit through our Dual Enrollment courses provided by Liberty University. For advanced full-time students, we offer associate degree tracks in 15 different areas: Apologetics, Biblical Studies, Business, Creative Writing, Criminal Justice, Education, History, Information Systems, Interdisciplinary Studies, Medical Office Assistant, Military History, Paralegal Studies, Psychology, Religion, and STEM Mathematics.
LUOA provides a structured yet flexible school designed to meet the needs of each individual student while allowing you to integrate our academics into your schedule even through the busiest seasons of life. It would be my pleasure to welcome you and your student to our school. Please contact us at any time with further questions you may have.
In Christ,
