What Is the Summer Reading Challenge?
Liberty University Online Academy’s annual Summer Reading Challenge is a unique event that allows students of all ages to compete with their peers for exciting prizes.
The Summer Reading Challenge runs from June 1 to July 31 each year.
Students compete in one of four groups depending on their grade at LUOA and must complete the number of books for that group to be eligible for our exciting prizes!
- Lower Elementary (K to 3rd Grade) – 5 Books
- Upper Elementary (4th to 5th Grade)- 4 Books
- Middle School (6th to 8th Grade)- 4 Books
- High School (9th to 12th Grade)- 4 Books

How Does It Work?

Pick Books to Read
Step 1:Have fun picking books to read! Not sure where to start? See the Summer Reading Lists above.
Students are not required to adhere to the provided reading lists. These lists are a resource to help you choose if you aren’t sure what to read!
Download the Digital Bookmark
Step 2:Need a place to record what you are reading? Check out our printable digital bookmark! As you finish books, record the full name of the book, the author, how many pages you read, and the date you completed the book.
Submit the Online Form
Step 3:Students will need to submit the Summer Reading Challenge Online Form to document their reading. This must be completed between July 31st and August 16th.
No entries before July 31 or after August 16th will be accepted. Only entries submitted through this form are eligible to be considered for the prize. Please see our Official Rules document for more information.
What Are the Prizes?
All students who complete the challenge (Read the number of required books and submit the online form) will have their name entered for a chance to win a Summer Reading Challenge Prize Pack including a $75 Amazon gift card!
We will select a winner for each age group: lower elementary, upper elementary, middle, and high school.
