Why Choose Liberty University Online Academy (K-12)?

With LUOA, you aren’t just homeschooling – you are transforming your home into a private Christian school. Here are a few more reasons to make LUOA your educational choice.

Accreditation

LUOA is accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and Cognia, which is the parent organization for the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI). The Commonweath of Virginia also recognizes LUOA as a member institution of the Virginia Council for Private Education.

Affordability

LUOA offers the best of a private, homeschool, Christian school experience at a surprisingly affordable rate. And LUOA’s convenient payment plan allows you to pay tuition in five or ten monthly payments – interest free! Families enrolling three or more students qualify for a family discount. And don’t forget about our 30-day money-back guarantee!

Community

As an LUOA family, you’ll have opportunities to connect with other families from all 50 states and more than 25 countries! Build community through extracurricular activities like student clubs, Bible studies, events on Liberty University’s campus, an annual Christmas celebration, and graduation events.

Support

Our four-pronged support system means your family will have the guidance and assistance they need along the way. This system consists of our team of helpful academic advisors, teacher-guided courses with our qualified and accessible teachers, lead teachers for additional guidance in classes, and spiritual mentorship.

Since 2007, over 50,000 students have enrolled in what is considered the best of homeschool, private school, and Bible-based education.

State-of-the-Art Curriculum

Lessons for online classes are interactive and designed to stimulate the student’s interest, engage them in the learning process, promote self-instruction, and capture their imagination. And since faith is an important educational component, LUOA’s courses are taught from a biblical worldview.

Dual Enrollment Program

A La Carte Track

Through a partnership with Liberty University, high school juniors and seniors enrolled in LUOA can take online college courses and begin earning college credit while satisfying their high school requirements. The Dual Enrollment program launches students into college early, offering online courses in 8- or 16-week subterms throughout the year and at a discounted tuition rate – approximately 75% less than Liberty University’s residential part-time tuition rate. Each course earns a half credit toward high school requirements, and most earn three credits designed to transfer to colleges and universities nationwide.

Associate Degree Track

Your student can graduate with their high school diploma and pursue an associate degree through Liberty University. This option can save them time and money on their bachelor’s degree, regardless of where they attend college. We have 15 tracks available, which include Business, Criminal Justice, Education, Information Systems, Interdisciplinary Studies, Paralegal Studies, Psychology, and Religion.

Why LUOA?

“My 8th-grade daughter is thriving with LUOA. She is self-motivated and able to use the resources provided when she needs help.”

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is the parent’s role versus the teacher’s?

The parent is seen as the primary – or first in line – teacher, partnering with the Academy support staff. Parents hold students accountable for completing assignments and progressing in their courses. As the primary teacher, you are your child’s “first responder” with help for academic questions.

Next in line is your Academy teacher, who uses the built-in messaging system for student/teacher correspondence. LUOA teachers are available to students and parents for real-time/live-voice additional assistance via telephone when needed.

What is a typical school day like?

You arrange the school day as you see fit. You may have your student do all the work in one sitting or space it out throughout the day. Time spent on the computer will vary depending on your school calendar, the number of subjects that have been assigned, and the student’s understanding of the course material. Generally, a student taking a full course load spread over a 180-day (not counting weekends and holidays) school year will spend 3 to 5 hours a day on the computer.

How long does the enrollment process take?

The enrollment process can take a few days or up to a few weeks. The timeframe will depend on which program you choose, how accessible your child’s records are, and how available your student is for possible assessment testing. Special approval or unique situations can arise that increase the length of the enrollment process.

What should I do if my student misses a scheduled day of work? Do we need to notify the Academy?

One of the benefits of schooling online is the flexibility of the schedule. With the Academy, you have the flexibility to change your schedule when it becomes necessary. You do not need to notify the Academy of a school day that has been missed.

How do students communicate with an Academy teacher?

The student can communicate with their Academy teachers in 2 ways. The first is through the messaging system in the curriculum, and the second is through comment boxes built into the curriculum. Please note that if you are contacting a teacher about grading, teachers have 48 hours to grade an assignment. If you are contacting a teacher about a lesson question, teachers have 24 hours to respond. Students may also contact a subject specialist by phone at (866) 418-8741, Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. EST. (Please see our Contact Us page for updated office hours and contact information.)
