Accreditation

Accredited Online K-12 Classes

Accredited online education is important for a variety of reasons. It ensures that a school adheres to set standards and guidelines for education excellence, and allows for the ease of credit transfer and college acceptance. Liberty University Online Academy (LUOA) enjoys the highest regional accreditation.

LUOA is internationally accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI) division of Cognia. LUOA is also recognized by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a member institution of the Virginia Council for Private Education. These affiliations and accreditations ensure that your student will receive the highest quality education available. Since each state is different, you will need to check with your own state for education requirements.

Our Mission

Liberty University Online Academy exists to support parents and guardians in their biblical responsibility to nurture and train their children. Thus, LUOA provides opportunities that allow students to experience academic and spiritual development through an individualized, Christ-centered, computer-based experience.

Our Teachers

Academy teachers are professionals who are licensed in their state, licensed by ACSI, or hold an advanced degree in their subject area. The teacher assesses student work and is responsible for the curriculum and day-to-day academic well-being of each student. Parents and students can access grades anytime via the online grade book. Parents are encouraged to take an active role in their child’s education and develop the parent/teacher/student relationship as in a traditional classroom.

Our Curriculum

The curriculum and course materials provided by LUOA are intended to support instruction that affirms Christian truth; the belief that we live in a created universe where all truth emanates from God as a guide for life (Nehemiah 9:6). Knowledge is presented as being both discovered and revealed, and the Bible is presented as the inspired, inerrant word of God and the sole Authority for faith and practice (2 Timothy 3:16).

Course materials teach that mankind is specially created in God’s image and that man’s sub-creative imagination and powers are inherent from that creation. The reality of evil and the fallen or sinful nature of man are presented in concordance with the belief that one can receive personal salvation through belief in Christ, and through Him alone. Furthermore, curriculum materials are designed to help students achieve academic standards and master various skills that allow them to acquire further knowledge.

The curriculum designers are experienced classroom teachers and education experts who utilize the personalized, individualized model for program delivery. Materials were designed to meet the academic needs of most students in grades K -12. Their research-based design incorporates many key features, including a formative and summative assessment system, and the use of individualized learning goals. LUOA curriculum materials provide each student with content (scope and sequence) and performance (mastery level) baseline. This provides an instructional base from which a personalized educational program is delivered, which includes criteria for a mastery competence level. User-friendly instruction directs students through the learning process, identifying benchmarks for mastery learning performance levels. This allows the student to work independently and learn responsibility by setting and accomplishing goals.
