Christopher Rusk, Ed.D. – Dean
Dr. Rusk holds a master’s in English and a doctorate in education. Dr. Rusk has worked in various teaching roles with learners of all ages — ranging from young children to adults. He has a particular passion for working with international students in ESL settings. As a homeschooling father of 6, Dr. Rusk has many years of experience working with non-traditional forms of education — which has given him the ability to relate to many of the issues facing today’s students and their parents. In his spare time, Dr. Rusk enjoys spending time with his wife, their 4 sons, and 2 daughters. Dr. Rusk and his family reside in Lynchburg, VA.
Wilson Proulx – Director of Academics
Mr. Proulx was born and raised in Northern Virginia before moving to Lynchburg, VA, to attend college at Liberty University. He earned his bachelor’s degree in communication, followed by a Master of Divinity from Liberty University’s John W. Rawlings School of Divinity. Mr. Proulx has been working for the Online Academy since 2013. He is passionate about the local church and discipleship within small groups. Mr. Proulx is married to Rebekah Proulx.
Cameron Ward – Director of Curriculum
Mr. Ward has a Bachelor’s in Mathematics from Liberty University as well as a Master’s in Teaching and Learning: Leadership from Liberty University. He has worked at LUOA since 2015 in various capacities from a math teacher to the Science Chairman to his current position as the Director of Curriculum which he has held since 2017. Mr. Ward is interested in leveraging project management methods to facilitate the development of cutting-edge curricula. He is passionate about making a genuine impact for the Kingdom of God by serving students all around the world. Mr. Ward is happily married to Amaris Ward and has two children.
Joel Salinas – Director of Advising and Business Development
Mr. Salinas received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Towson University, a Master of Arts in Christian Ministry from Liberty University’s John W. Rawlings School of Divinity, and a Master of Business Administration from Liberty University’s School of Business. He grew up in Bolivia and moved to Lynchburg, VA, in 2013. Mr. Salinas has served as part of the LUOA team since February of 2014. Mr. Salinas is happily married to Ashley, who serves as a Foreign Language teacher for LUOA.
Kelley Niblett – Director of Faculty
Mrs. Niblett is a Georgia native who moved to Lynchburg, VA, in the spring of 2013. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Communications from The Master’s University as well as a Master of Arts in Education from Central Michigan University. For 14 years, she served as the director of an online Christian academy in McDonough, GA. She believes the best part of working for LUOA is being able to meet and help families from around the world. Mrs. Niblett is married to Vance and has 2 sons. In her free time, she enjoys traveling with family and friends, reading, and cheering on the University of Georgia Bulldogs.
Matthew Luckey – Director of Admissions
Mr. Luckey has a Bachelor of Religious Education from Davis College in Johnson City, New York, and a Master of Arts in Religion from The Liberty University Rawlings School of Divinity. He grew up in upstate New York and moved to Lynchburg, Virginia, in 2004. He has a passion for young people and mentoring them through the various transitions in life. He has been a part of the admissions team since 2009 and is excited to see how many families have been able be a part of the LUOA family over the years. In his spare time, he enjoys writing, woodworking, hiking, and spending time with his wife, their 3 daughters, and 2 sons.
Ashley Gryder – Director of Operations
Mrs. Gryder received a bachelor’s degree in Health Promotion from Liberty University. She grew up in upstate New York and moved to Lynchburg, Virginia, in 2009. Mrs. Gryder has served as part of the LUOA team since July of 2016. Mrs. Gryder is married to Josh, and together they have a son and a daughter. In her free time, she enjoys camping with her family, attending sporting events, traveling, and spoiling their black lab. Mrs. Gryder is passionate about supporting and serving LUOA families, students and staff.
